Uncle Buck's Steak Rub

As long as I can remember, Uncle Buck had cattle grazing in his fields and every summer he would process one of his steers for the freezer. These were some of the best steaks I have ever tasted and our family still reminisce about them to this day. We created this steak rub in honor of Uncle Buck and his prize-winning steers.

This rub creates a rich, flavorful, crunchy crust called the bark. Beef rub is different than pork rub. Pork loves sweetness, beef does not. We use coarse ground pepper along with our chili powders to offer the complexity of two different flavors and two different levels of heat. The Cayenne gives a kiss of heat and the Ancho adds great flavor and a nice raisiny character.

Ingredients: Black Pepper, Salt, Sugar, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, Ancho Chili Powder, Mustard, Cayenne Powder.
